Then & Now
Michele and Lori
After playing in many tournaments together, we took the elements we enjoyed most and created our own events. Mah Jongg Mania brings players together for fun, friendly, and well-organized tournament experiences where they can sharpen their skills, enjoy spirited competition, and make new friends. We want every player to feel welcome!

Michele also draws on her teaching experience to create the presentations, and learning materials for our Tournament Ready Boot Camp.

🀄️ Together
The Team Behind the Tournaments
Together, Michele and Lori combine their individual strengths and years of tournament experience to handle every detail of each event—from emails and phone calls to planning, shopping, setup, scoring, and welcoming players. As the team behind Mah Jongg Mania, their teamwork keeps everything organized and running smoothly, so you can simply arrive, play, and enjoy the day!
Everything you need to know before tournament day
Upon arrival, participants will be provided with a name tag, pen, individual score sheet and rules. As part of the check in process, players will be assigned a specific mah jongg table and position number determined at random. Players assigned to the East position will be notified in advance and are responsible for bringing a complete Mah Jongg set and mat. East will also receive a table score sheet at check-in and record the scores for all four players.
For each round consisting of 4 games you will be competing against various opponents placed randomly at a table. At the end of each round, players will rotate tables.
The rules and scoring system will be emailed to all the participants prior to the day of the tournament. Please familiarize yourself with them beforehand. They will also be provided on the tables and reviewed on the day of the tournament.
Each round will consist of 4 games to be played in 50 minutes. The 50 minute time limit will be strictly enforced to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly.
During the round, the East Player will keep score for the table. In addition, each participant will be provided a scoresheet to record their points after each hand. To verify scores, each player will sign off by initializing their score. West will sign for East.
We have several opportunities to win cash prizes. Top performers will be recognized at the conclusion of the tournament for highest scores of the day, top scores for the round and Hand of the Day.
