Mah Jongg Mania is thrilled to partner with The Picklr Centerreac

Newbie Mistakes

1. Picking from the wrong end of the wall.

2. Taking too long to make decisions. Whether discarding a tile, calling a tile, what to pass during the Charleston or chosing a hand, it slows down the game. You want to have enough time to finish all 4 hands in a round to get the most points possible.

3 Calling for a tile for an exposure early in the round allows people to know what hand you are going for and they will play defensively. Also calling a tile for an exposure using one or more jokers could be dangerous allowing other players to possibly claim the jokers to help their hand or give them mahjongg.

TIPS: Think before you pick from the wall or claim a discard. If you touch it, it is yours.

3 Most Important Rules

1. When calling for a tile for an exposure or mahjongg, it MUST be placed on the top (flat part) of your rack, not in your hand (slanted part).

2. After picking a tile from the wall you should place it in your rack immediately. Another player may call the last tile discarded at any time UNTIL the next player’s tile is racked. Tapping your tile against the rack DOES NOT COUNT as racking it.

3. Do not throw in your hand or expose your hand after another player calls mahjongg UNTIL the mahjongg has been verified by EAST.
